Project description:

A new third party health centre development on the site of the old fire station in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

The new development of 1161m² for Auckland Medical Group, will provide a primary care centre and pharmacy that encompasses advancing technology, provides a greater level of integration between primary and community services and includes provision for GP special interest services.

Accommodation, provided over two floors, includes eight GP consulting rooms, seven further examination/treatment rooms, minor surgery, physiotherapy, chiropody, phlebotomy, clinical support spaces and non-clinical staff accommodation.

Services will include:

  • General Practice
  • Family Planning
  • Minor Surgery Clinic – carried out under local anaesthetic.
  • Long Term Conditions clinics including Diabetes, COPD, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Joint Assessment Asthma (adult and paediatric)
  • Smoking Cessation Clinic
  • Antenatal and Postnatal Care
  • Vaccination and Immunisation
  • Chiropody
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Wear Valley Carers

Currently the scheme is under construction with a programmed completion date of September 2014.

On-going involvement:

On completion, Community Ventures will be appointed by the Landlord of the facility to ensure the Landlord’s FM responsibilities are discharged. As the operational phase approaches, discussion with the practice will highlight potential support Community Ventures could offer in discharging the Tenant’s obligations under the lease.
