Making more effective use of space in buildings

Community Ventures are increasingly carrying out utilisation surveys for various clients keen to understand the real picture of how they use the space in their buildings to make better use of their estate. Implementing the recommendations of the Carter Review is a key reason for some organisations. Others have used this type of analysis to inform more efficient operational management of space within existing buildings, option appraisals, business cases and in support of bids for capital funding for new build or reconfiguration of space to improve care environments e.g. Estate and Technology Transformation Fund bids to support of new models of care.

Space utilisation surveys are a useful tool for the requirement of post project evaluation of capital investments by informing how space is actually used compared to the modeling undertaken as part of the planning process.
