The Compton Centre

LIFTCo Development
Capital Costs: £4.7m
Operational Date: July 2010
The facility is a joint project between Leeds City Council and Leeds Primary Care Trust to provide health, social care and a range of Council services in one building. A Joint Service Centre is a modern, multi-agency (predominantly public service organizations) facility whereby local residents can easily access a range of face-to-face services from across organizations which form part of a "chain of care", or are complementary to ensuring that people experiencing disadvantage and / or having complex needs can receive services in an appropriate and timely manner. It should be pleasant and welcoming and form a "hub" for the whole community.
The following services are anticipated in the facility:
Leeds City Council
- Customer Services
- Environmental Health Service
- Libraries Service
- Chinese Advisory Centre
Leeds Primary Care Trust
- Drug Addiction Service
- Mental Health Services
Site information:
Existing buildings on the site are the Compton Library and recently constructed Harehills Children's Centre. The development of the JSC will involve the incorporation of the existing Compton Library. The design of the JSC will enable the building to fit around the Children's Centre so as to form a social care 'hub', including the provision of shared car parking space.
The accommodation is spread over two storeys, with a total area of 1,543 square metres.
